Farmhouse Kitchen
Converted Barn | West Sussex

For this architecturally interesting, beamed farmhouse, we crafted a kitchen that embraces the natural warmth and character of the home. English oak furniture sits at the heart of the design, chosen for its timeless grain and tactile quality. Its presence brings depth and authenticity, establishing a calm, inviting atmosphere that feels beautifully in tune with its surroundings.

To complement the oak, we introduced Volga Blue granite surfaces in a textured, leathered finish. The subtle iridescence and softened sheen of the stone add a refined contrast, enhancing the relaxed yet luxurious feel of the space. These natural materials sit seamlessly alongside the distinctive industrial metalwork behind the Aga and the sculptural lighting feature above the island—both designed by us and forged by the same craftsmen. This consistency in craft and detail creates a cohesive aesthetic with a strong sense of identity.

Bespoke lighting plays a vital role throughout the kitchen, elevating both function and ambience. Tailored to the architecture and materials, each element enhances the warmth and usability of the room, making the kitchen not just a workspace but a welcoming living environment. The combination of oak cabinetry and painted furniture adds a layered softness, balancing practicality with elegance.

To support everyday living, we designed a walk-in larder with oak-lipped shelves and pull-out vegetable bins, offering generous and efficient storage. The large fridge-freezer is concealed within painted cabinetry to maintain visual serenity and uninterrupted lines. Adjacent to the kitchen, the boot room continues the flow seamlessly, providing a hardworking transition space tailored for country life.

This project reflects our dedication to creating bespoke kitchens that blend craftsmanship, thoughtful detail and a deep sense of place.
