Dressing room | 17th century farmhouse | Surrey
For this characterful 17th-century farmhouse in Surrey, Figura were asked to bring a sense of order, calm and everyday practicality to the master suite. The brief centred on creating a beautifully considered dressing room that would enhance the rhythm of family life while honouring the home’s historic fabric. Working closely with our client, we shaped a space that feels both deeply functional and quietly serene—an interior designed to simplify daily routines and introduce a feeling of gentle luxury.
From the first sketches to the finishing touches, our approach focused on thoughtful planning, fine materials and craftsmanship that sits comfortably within this centuries-old property. Every wardrobe, shelf, hanging rail and drawer was tailored to the client’s belongings, ensuring that everything—from seasonal knits to daily essentials—has an intuitive and easily accessible place.
The result is a dressing room defined by clarity and organisation, achieved through careful spatial planning and bespoke joinery.
Positioned beside the master bedroom, the dressing area enjoys sweeping views across the garden and lake, allowing natural light to soften the space throughout the day. Warm oak cabinetry, chosen for its timeless depth and subtle texture, enhances the room’s inviting atmosphere. Deep drawers accommodate knitwear and larger items, while solid oak accents provide a warm, tactile contrast that complements the farmhouse’s historic charm. The overall palette creates a cosy, nurturing environment—one perfectly suited to bedtime stories, quiet moments, and shared family rituals.
