Founded by principal designer Giles Slater in 1991, and jointly managed for the past 20 years with his Swedish-born wife, Karin, both bring a complementary wealth of creative wisdom to the business.
Our Latin business name, Figura, conjures associations of space, shape, form, beauty, and style. These markers form the bedrock of our approach.
Our showroom is based on the Green in Chiddingfold, in the heart of the picturesque Surrey countryside. The space doubles as both our creative design studio and as a welcoming, by appointment showroom. Relationships sit at the heart of all we do, and for us one size does not fit all. By experiencing our design philosophy in person, it helps to ensure the best creative outcome for your project.
We believe that the quality of our workmanship in your home should enhance and complement the property you are custodian of. For us promoting bespoke design credentials, means that they are ‘truly’ bespoke – designed and handcrafted to work with the nuances of your property, not off-the shelf designs forced to fit.
Our thoughtful, high-quality designs are always aesthetically beautiful and immensely practical, and with the use of natural materials, will continue to improve with age.

We focus on projects in Surrey, Sussex and London, and are passionate about the preservation of historic buildings in an area that our founders grew up in. Alongside our own in-house design and cabinetry team, we also have long standing relationships with local suppliers.
Karin is one of the founders of the Surrey Hills Collective and has established a growing directory and network of local quality experts within the luxury property market – including architects, builders, material suppliers, and interior designers. These trusted relationships provide our clients with reassurance that they have access to the best, highly skilled resource.
