Refurbishment & Renovation

Refurbishing a home is a considered process. It involves rethinking how spaces flow, how they are used each day, and how they can evolve to support modern family living.

At Figura, we work closely with our clients to reimagine and reconfigure their homes with care and clarity. Established in 1991, we have been refining properties across Surrey, Sussex and London for over three decades — from individual room transformations to complete house renovations.

Much of our work takes place within period country houses, including Grade I and II listed properties, where proportion and architectural detail require careful judgement. At the same time, we collaborate on contemporary homes and architect-designed new builds, ensuring cabinetry and interiors are integrated thoughtfully from the outset.

In every case, the intention remains the same: to create balanced, enduring spaces that feel entirely at home within their setting.

Period Property Experience

We believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Each property requires an understanding of proportion, detail and restraint.

Original mouldings, ceiling heights and joinery details inform our design decisions. Cabinetry is carefully scribed to irregular walls and floors so that it sits comfortably within the structure rather than appearing imposed upon it. We favour proper resolution over superficial adjustment.

Where listed status or conservation constraints apply, we support the consent process in collaboration with experienced planning consultants, ensuring proposals respect both the building and your brief.

Materials are chosen for their longevity and integrity — hand-painted finishes, natural stone, timber and aged brass — allowing spaces to mature naturally over time.

Contemporary Homes &  New Builds

Our experience extends equally to contemporary homes and new builds. Early involvement allows cabinetry and interior layouts to be integrated from the outset, ensuring alignment with the architectural scheme.

Proportion, material selection and detailing are approached with discipline and clarity, creating contemporary interiors that feel timeless rather than trend-driven.

From Individual Rooms to Whole House Projects

Our refurbishment work spans the full breadth of the home. Kitchens often sit at the centre, but projects regularly extend to bedrooms, bathrooms, entrance halls, dressing rooms, studies, utility spaces and beyond.

Each space is considered in relation to the whole, ensuring continuity of character and flow throughout the property.
