In this beautiful country kitchen Figura have cleverly incorporated a seating and dining space by designing a generous, curved, built-in banquette on one side.
Curved edges can often be a great way to maximise space in a compact kitchen, from soft-cornered cabinets to circular or oval islands and even curved shelves that might otherwise protrude too much into a narrow area.
The bespoke design for this space focuses on optimising the kitchen's outstanding original architecture and features. Rather than designing around oak beams and original brickwork, we accentuated these features to bring warmth to the room. The client had downsized from a substantial country house to this charming mill house and wanted to create a very beautiful central kitchen which could still be able to bring the family together.
A curved banquette with storage and heating underneath was designed in to a corner giving additional colour and warmth and a storage wall larder provides a useful space for kitchen ‘clutter’ inside a beautiful piece of cabinet made oak furniture.
