Everything is so Green!

Everything is so Green!

Outside everything is so lush and green at the moment.  I love driving around the Surrey countryside, the hedgerows, parks, woods and even verges are alive with vibrant, lush greens of all shades and texture.

With green in mind and currently all around us, we thought we would take this opportunity share with you a selection of our favourite 'green' inspired accessories for the home and also some of our favourite green Figura kitchen designs.

Period Farmhouse Kitchen

Figura designed a luxury farmhouse kitchen in Hampshire for an accomplished chef that flows beautifully in to the other rooms in this 17th Century home. The beautifully crafted circular kitchen island cleverly hides storage for knives and the vegetable bin under a large chopping board; a sunken wine cellar provides a wonderful and interesting feature; and a practical laundry chute in the adjoining room makes this space individual and incredibly functional.

This Sanderson fabric is a realistic depiction of the nations favourite British birds, inspired by an 18th century painting of plants and animals. A green woodpecker, a wren, a robin, a thrush and a pair of blue tits on their nest of eggs all make their home in a modern tree of life. To complete the scene, butterflies, insects, ladybirds and various woodland berries adorn the tree. The design is painted by watercolour in exquisitely fine detail. The fabric is digitally printed to achieve the nuances of the artwork and the amount of natural colours and tones in the design.

This iconic Bordallo Pinheiro bowl from Liberty features an instantly recognisable cabbage design - cabbage, in its rough and flat form, could be used as a metaphor for Portugal’s rustic ways, which Bordallo had so many times caricatured.

Contemporary kitchen design in rural Sussex

The brief for this renowned architect and his wife was to create a beautiful, understated design for a large kitchen and dining space with wonderful proportions. The garden and land surrounding this house bring foxes with their cubs and deer right up to the kitchen windows. Light pours in from double doors on both sides and the space now is big enough to seat twelve, yet it still feels cosy enough when just occupied by two.

Traditional kitchen and storage wall larder

The bespoke design for this space focuses on optimising the kitchen's outstanding original architecture and features. Rather than designing around oak beams and original brickwork, we accentuated these features to bring warmth to the room. The client had downsized from a substantial country house to this charming mill house and wanted to create a very beautiful central kitchen which could still be able to bring the family together.

The storage wall larder provides a useful space for kitchen ‘clutter’ inside a beautiful piece of cabinet made oak furniture.

In the design of this bespoke kitchen living space, which forms the heart and hub of this family home, we understood the need to craft beautiful furniture, able to withstand the rigours of a busy, sociable family - which also had to be practical, ergonomic and in sympathy with the character of this Edwardian home in Surrey
