Karin's top five choices from London Design week are calming and sophisticated and perhaps inspired by her Swedish heritage.
I really loved the wood imitation stone and tiles from R.I.M. Tile and Mosaic Boutique. Maybe it is the Swedish in me that had me drawn to this beautiful blond ‘wood’ stone tile. It is unusual to find the wood grain featured in cross-section. The detail is amazing and it glows with warmth.
There are so many tiles to chose from and R.I.M. suggest combinations of their stone and tiles which work really well. This was my other favourite of theirs.
These jewel like lights from Porto Romana really caught my eye. There were so many things in their Showroom I loved (Rachel grabbed the ducks feet lamp!) that every time I turned around I found yet another ‘favourite’. One of the things I loved the most was that their workshop is just a few miles from our Showroom in Surrey and, just like ourselves, they work with skilled and creative team of designers and craftsmen.
Original BTC have a great selection of copper pendant lights, which when hung together in different shapes and sizes bring light, warmth and a little bit of glamour to a kitchen.
The Stanley pendants are hand-spun in Birmingham. Materials include brass, copper or brass nickel plated. Available in three different sizes and in a hammered or smooth, reflective finish. Group them together for a dramatic effect or mix metals for a laid-back, eclectic look.
London Design Week is so full of life and colour and energy. It is such a feast and inspiration. However after a while I began to yearn for something simple and calming and this is the feeling you get when you find the Nobilis washed linen collection. Natural, fresh and delicate organic fabric in beautiful colours.
The Linen House collection from Nobilis is a real festival of light and large-scale linens and hessians in a soft palette of lilac, aqua, coral, sand and undyed finishes. Linens and hessians for light, airy rooms.
Maybe it’s a longing for the Summer that made me chose this beautiful sun lounger. Just stepping in to the Summit Showroom makes you feel like grabbing your sun glasses, pouring yourself a long cool drink and diving on to one of their loungers.
The award-winning Sundeck Collection, created exclusively for Summit by British yacht and furniture designer John Munford, reflects the qualities of style and craftsmanship associated with the exquisite interiors of classic yachts. Originally fashioned after British campaign furniture, the Sundeck Collection was designed to be storable or stackable. In his Sundeck Collection for Summit, Munford has designed versatile nomadic furniture that complements the sleek superstructures of modern yachts. As is true with all collections designed for Summit, each piece of Sundeck furniture is crafted from the highest quality plantation-grown teak, a sustainable resource and Summit hallmark. All metal fittings are constructed with marine-grade stainless steel and polished for a finished appearance.
